Amanda Mcfarland

Manager of Individual and Medicare Sales 

Amanda was promoted to manager of Individual and Medicare sales in July of 2023. She has been with Medical Mutual since 2015 and previously served as an Account Manager for Northeast Ohio. Prior to joining Medical Mutual, she served in similar capacities for 20 years.

Amanda enjoys working at Medical Mutual because of the local employees and her ability to talk to decision makers directly. Her favorite part of her job is working alongside brokers, whose relationships have turned into friendships over the years. Amanda enjoys meeting new agents and growing their relationships as well as their book of business. She is looking forward to sharing her knowledge with her new team members and meeting new agents as she travels the state. 

When away from the office, Amanda is often at the baseball field with her husband, Jacob, watching their triplets, Mackenzie, Mason and Maxim, play baseball and softball. In between family and work time, she volunteers as the Outreach Director at Mosaic Church in Wadsworth.

Anthony Lancianese

Account Manager - Akron/Canton + Youngstown Area Counties

Tony is the Account Manager for Northeast Ohio and supports the Medicare and Individual and Family markets. He began his insurance career in 2004 by selling voluntary worksite benefit plans that later led to selling and supporting Small Group and Individual plans for multiple independent agencies. In the six years prior to joining Medical Mutual, he transitioned to selling Medicare plans as a captive agent at different insurance companies.

Tony is excited to be representing an Ohio company that puts their members first while providing high quality benefits and keeping healthcare affordable. He is committed to the success of the agents and brokers he supports

When not in the office, you can find Tony spending time with his wife, Beth, and three children – Gabe, Noah, and Lydia. He enjoys volunteering for multiple clubs and activities his children are involved in like the Manchester High School marching band and drama club. Tony and his family are also very active with volunteer activities at their local church, Grace Bible Church.

Christine Thwing

Account Manager - Cleveland Area Counties

Chris recently joined the Medical Mutual team as an Account Manager for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, and Lorain counties. She supports the Medicare and Individual and Family markets.

Chris grew up in Parma and has resided in North Olmsted for many years now. She has worked in the insurance industry for over 20 years and brings a wide range of knowledge regarding Medicare and Individual and Family markets. Chris is excited to be working for an Ohio-based insurance company whose focus is on providing great health plans, access to care and excellent customer service.

During her personal time, Chris enjoys spending time with all of her nieces and nephews. She also loves spending time with her chocolate lab, Penny. Chris enjoys activities at her church – North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church – and helping her elderly neighbors.

Jennifer Michels

Account Manager - Southern Ohio Counties

Jennifer is the Account Manager covering Dayton, Cincinnati and Southeastern Ohio. She supports the Medicare and Individual and Family markets.

Jennifer began her career in 2000 by helping individuals get health insurance and started working with Medicare in 2008. Before joining Medical Mutual, she spent the last eight years supporting brokers and a captive sales force for a national carrier by helping them develop their own book of business.

Outside of the office, Jennifer is an avid volleyball player, playing both indoors and outdoors. She also enjoys spending time and cooking with her family, husband John, children Alicia, Erin, Leighton, Seth, their dog Max, and her three grandchildren.

Michael Broderick

Account Manager - Northwest Ohio Counties

Mike has been with Medical Mutual since 2012, working as an Account Manager for the Toledo and Columbus area, northwest Ohio, central Ohio and some parts of southern Ohio. He supports the Medicare and Individual and Family markets.

Mike grew up in Brooklyn and Long Island, New York before heading to the Midwest to attend The Ohio State University. Prior to joining Medical Mutual, he held a similar role focusing on the Individual and Small Group markets.

At Medical Mutual, Mike enjoys working for an Ohio-based company focused on improving Ohioans’ lives with quality healthcare coverage. He values the teamwork and comradery he shares with his fellow employees. Mike also enjoys working alongside and helping them grow their agencies.

Away from the office, you can find Mike spending time with his wife Dawn, daughter Caitlyn and stepson Zac. He also enjoys spending time with colleagues from work and friends from college. In between work and family time, Mike volunteers at the Saint Vincent DePaul Society through St. Margaret’s church. He also enjoys attending sporting events and concerts.

Rachel Schultz

Account Manager - Central Ohio Counties

Rachel is the Account Manager for central Ohio and supports the Medicare and Individual and Family Markets. Rachel came to Medical Mutual with 15 years of experience in the insurance industry as an agent specializing in Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, Prescription Drug Plan, and Specialty products. At Medical Mutual, Rachel enjoys meeting and assisting agents and is proud to work for an Ohio-based company.

Rachel grew up in Belmont County and attended Ohio University. She has since lived and worked in central Ohio. Away from the office, you can find Rachel spending time with her fiancé Josh, son TJ, and daughter Cassie. Rachel enjoys visiting with her two sisters, going to concerts, the beach and watching the Buckeyes. Rachel also volunteers at a local faith-based food pantry.
