Grocery Benefit Frequently Asked Questions
Secure HMO-POS plan members with a qualifying chronic condition can receive a $50 monthly allowance to purchase healthy groceries.
Q: Will I receive a separate benefit card for my grocery benefit?
A: No. Your grocery allowance will be loaded to the same benefit card you use to purchase over-the-counter supplies.
Q: How do I use my benefit card to pay for items in-store?
A: Simply swipe your card and select CREDIT as the payment type, if prompted. Your card does not require a pin. If you select debit, the card will decline. If you’re not sure, ask the cashier how to process your card as CREDIT on their checkout system.
Q: How do I check my card balance?
A: You can check your balance on My Health Plan, our secure member website. When you log in to MedMutual.com/Member, your current balance will be listed under “My NationsBenefits” on your dashboard.
Q: What is the cost of shipping for online orders?
A: There is no extra cost for shipping.
Q: What can I use my grocery allowance to purchase?
A: Your allowance can be used for eligible grocery purchases at grocery stores near you. To view the catalog of products, visit MedMutual.com/GroceryCatalog.
Q: How do I find participating stores that accept my card?
A: Log in to My Health Plan at MedMutual.com/Member and use the store locator tool on the Benefits Pro Portal.
Q: Can I use my benefit card to make purchases online at Amazon.com or Walmart.com?
A: No. The only place to purchase grocery items online is the Benefits Pro Portal, available through My Health Plan at MedMutual.com/Member. You can find a wide range of eligible items on the portal that can be shipped to your doorstep at no extra cost.
Q: Can I pay for eligible and ineligible items with my benefit card?
A: You cannot purchase both eligible and ineligible items together in one transaction. You’ll need to complete two separate transactions using something other than your grocery benefit card to pay for the ineligible items.
